Bee Tee Junior secured second place, finishing 10 lengths ahead of the striking grey Valac, who encountered a stumbling moment over the last obstacle.

Despite leading and enduring pressure from San Remo throughout the race, Saunter Boy, a champion jumper, weakened in the closing stages and finished fifth.
