According to assistant trainer Declan Maher, Stern Idol's next target will be the Crisp Steeplechase (4500m) at Sandown on August 6.
In another highlight of the race card, Bedford, an up-and-coming star in the hurdle division, solidified his growing reputation by comfortably winning the prestigious Brendan Drechsler (3500m) race. Instigator and Bell Ex One finished behind him in second and third place, respectively.
Despite leading and enduring pressure from San Remo throughout the race, Saunter Boy, a champion jumper, weakened in the closing stages and finished fifth.
