Despite Croatia's second- and third-place finishes at the past two World Cups, coach Zlatko Dalic emphasized that his team's advancement to this week's four-team Nations League finals was a significant accomplishment.

Wednesday's semifinal matches see Croatia hosting the Netherlands in Rotterdam, with Thursday's semifinal matchup between Italy and Spain taking place in Enschede. As a result, the winners will advance to the final on Sunday.

During the first two Nations League editions, we struggled, but this year we beat France and Denmark in the group, took first place and reached the final,” he said.

We want to give it our best and achieve yet another fantastic outcome.

Croatia came second in the 2018 World Cup in Russia but lost 6–0 to Spain in the inaugural Nations League match less than two months later, finishing below England and Spain in their group.

It finished third in its group in the second edition, this time after France and Portugal.

Although it won away in Paris and Copenhagen in the middle of 2022 before travelling to Qatar and winning the World Cup bronze, it has yet to qualify for the 2023 finals.

The achievement of being one of the top four teams in Europe is astounding. Though we've already achieved a great deal, our goal today is to take home the trophy. We worked hard for it."

It must first overcome the host team, which has a solid record at Feyenoord Stadium. "The game against the Netherlands will be very difficult for us," Luka Modric, the captain, continued.

We are facing a youthful, talented club that is playing at home and returning to the big stage, he said.

I feel like I can contribute - Luka Modric

Modric was asked about his club's future, as his Real Madrid contract is soon to end after 11 seasons with the Spanish giants, but he stated he will discuss it later.

The 37-year-old is ready to add to his 164 caps, though, when it comes to his future with Croatia. I've spoken several times how much I like representing my country on the pitch.

I feel fulfilled every time I get the chance to do so, and there is no reason why I shouldn't be present as long as I feel this way and as long as I feel like I can contribute, concluded Modric.
