Christian Pulisic of the United States had an excellent start to his AC Milan career, scoring one goal and setting up another as Bologna was defeated 2-0 in its Serie A debut on Monday.

Pulisic, who joined Milan last month, assisted Olivier Giroud's opening goal, and his former Chelsea teammate reciprocated in the 21st minute.

Pulisic is one of several new Rossoneri players. Milan was the most active Serie A team in the transfer window, bringing in six new players. However, his American teammate, Yunus Musah, was banned for the season opener.

In other recent purchases Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Tijjani Reijnders made their debuts, with the latter also contributing to the opening in the 11th minute.

Pulisic sent a pinpoint crossfield ball to Reijnders, who cut it back for Giroud to tuck in on the opposite side. Pulisic outdid himself 10 minutes later, playing a one-two with Giroud before blasting into the far side.

With a comfortable lead and temperatures exceeding 30 degrees—even at night—in Bologna, Milan's intensity fell.

Rafael Leao had a chance to make it three in the last minute, but his shot hit the inside of the far post.
