Levi Colwill may be one of England's best centre backs, Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino Pochettino said after his team's 4-3 victory against Brighton in pre-season friendly match.

After making a club-record offer to sign the England u21 defender earlier this summer, Chelsea defeated Brighton 4-3 in their second preseason match in the United States. Pochettino's team defeated the Philadelphia Union 1-0 due to goals from Christopher Nkunku, Mykhailo Mudryk, Conor Gallagher, and Nicolas Jackson.

Levi Colwill can become one of the greatest center-backs in England, and we don't need to make a statement about it," Pochettino said.

Pochettino is pleased with how his preseason is progressing, noting that it's about the project; it's about assembling a team with the potential to give each player the room they need or that we think they need.

When you represent Chelsea winning is everything - Mauricio Pochettino

Then there's the matter of size; if your team is vast and has 30 veteran players, it will be challenging for young players to secure a position. It is crucial that we treat them equally if we find out they can make use of the space we want to provide them. When you represent Chelsea, winning is everything—not just playing amazing football. Of course, we will have a limited number of spots available for those with the possibility and potential to be senior footballers in our football club. We must be cautious because people want us to win. When you play for Chelsea, it is all about winning, not just playing fantastic football.

We need some seasoned players even if we have a lot of young youngsters. We are making a lot of effort to sign players that will be able to aid us not just this year, but also in the future. If we feel they have the potential to join Chelsea as a senior player, I suppose I would like to see them in these situations to encourage them.
