The search for a new striker is progressing, according to Manchester United boss Erik Ten Hag. In the Premier League last year, Manchester United came in third place, barely behind winner Manchester City and runner-up Arsenal.

According to Ten Hag, Manchester United is making progress in their quest for a striker and he wants to sign a new player as soon as possible before their preseason encounter against Wrexham AFC. Atlanta's Rasmus Hojlund has been identified as a possible summer transfer target for the Red Devils.

"We're making progress, to be sure. But you know how it works—when we have him, we'll inform you right away. The only thing I can add is that we are exerting every effort to make it happen. If it were up to me, I'd say as quickly as feasible. Because we need to bring him into the squad and method of playing, the earlier the better, remarked Ten Hag.

Manchester United, according to the Dutch manager, are underperforming in the striker position and are hunting for a guy who can score goals. Marcus Rashford set a career-best with 30 club goals last season and was Manchester United's leading scorer.

We never speak about players who are under contract at other clubs - Erik Ten Hag

"In a perfect world, he would already be here, but managers sometimes have to cope with less than ideal circumstances. Since we are failing there and are aware of it, other players must also contribute, thus we are on the lookout for players with scoring prowess, Ten Hag remarked.

When questioned about a possible loan deal for PSG superstar striker Kylian Mbappe, Ten Hag responded, "We never speak about players who are under contract at other clubs."

Manchester United defeated Arsenal 2-0 in their first preseason friendly and will face Wrexham AFC on July 26 at the Snapdragon Stadium in California.
