Al-Ittihad of the Saudi Pro League (SPL) has confirmed the signing of Karim Benzema as a free agent. The Frenchman, who now holds the Ballon d'Or, ended his illustrious Real Madrid stint.

In an unexpected turn of events, Benzema quit Real Madrid and will now play in the Saudi Pro League. Benzema's new team, Al-Ittihad, won the SPL in 2022–23.

Benzema's current Al-Ittihad contract runs till the end of the 2025–26 season. According to reports, the Frenchman will make roughly €200 million every year.

Karim Benzema will now face former Real Madrid teammate Cristiano Ronaldo, who currently plays for Al-Nassr. In this season's Saudi Pro League, Riyadh-based Al-Nassr finished second to Jeddah-based Al-Ittihad.
