Christian Pulisic, AC Milan’s recent signing, said that speaking with Stefano Pioli influenced his decision to go from Chelsea to the club.

The USMNT player stated his dissatisfaction with his tenure at Chelsea and said Pioli's statements were essential in pushing him to go from the Premier League to Serie A.

"The decision to come here came after talking to Pioli; I immediately understood that he wanted me here," Pulisic said in his first news conference as a Milan player. He gave me clear instructions to be straightforward and specific while giving this squad my all. The talk with him was brief, but it was sufficient to persuade me to relocate to Milan."

Pulisic is anticipated to play a big role in Milan's assault next season as the club looks to rebuild after the departures of important players such as Sandro Tonali and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Pulisic, 24, is hoping that his transfer to Serie A will jump-start his career after two disappointing seasons at Chelsea. His performance will be eagerly anticipated by Milan fans, who are hoping he can have an effect this season.

Pulisic began his professional career with Borussia Dortmund before transferring to Chelsea in January 2019 for an estimated 58 million pounds. He surpassed all other North American players in price with this transfer.

Pulisic's time at Chelsea was filled with both successes and setbacks. He made his Premier League debut for Chelsea on August 11 of that year, and on October 26 of that same year, he notched his first goal for the team while completing a perfect hat-trick in a 4-2 away victory over Burnley. At the age of 21 years and 38 days, he became the youngest hat-trick scorer in Chelsea history.

Christian Pulisic future with Chelsea was uncertain

Pulisic appeared in 145 games for Chelsea over four seasons, scoring 26 goals and assisting 21. Despite his injuries, he was an important part of Chelsea's achievements, notably their Champions League title in 2021. He was the first American to play in a Champions League final and the youngest Chelsea player to score in the semi-finals.

Pulisic's tenure at Chelsea was not without adversity. Due to injuries and numerous management changes, his position has dwindled in recent seasons. Despite these obstacles, Pulisic left an indelible mark on the club and its fans. Pulisic made a permanent transfer to AC Milan in July 2023, marking the end of his remarkable four-year spell with the Blues.
