Points to consider

  • This is a series decider game with both sides tied at 1-1. India will be desperate to close out the series with a win, after a disappointing loss in the second ODI. Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma should return back to the XI.
  • The 3rd ODI will be the first-ever Men's ODI game at Tarouba but in the recent domestic One Day competition at this ground, there were plenty of wickets and the surface was mostly slow and spin-friendly.
  • Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have some of the best numbers in West Indies and against West Indies. They had limited opportunities in the first and were rested in the second ODI - so if they play, we will back them in our teams in a must-win game for India.  We will include them as our top C/VC options as well.
  • Along with that, we will assume that they will bat in their usual positions, at the top of the order. If this happens, Ishan Kishan might go back to Number 4, in the middle order - we will have to see at the toss if we can get any insight into what the team's approach will be.
  • If India bowls first, you can back most of their bowlers and expect the top 4 to score a majority of the runs. In that case, Mukesh Kumar (7.6%) and Umran Malik (3.7%) can be good differential pacers.
  • At the same time, if Axar Patel is retained in the XI instead, he will become a top differential pick as left-arm orthodox spinners had a lot of success at this ground in the recent domestic One Day tournament.
  • Keeping the left-arm spin record at Tarouba in mind and the number of right handers in the Indian team, Gudakesh Motie will once again become an important fantasy pick in a Day game at Tarouba.
