Fantasy Notes - Seattle Orcas (SEO) vs MI New York (MINY)
Points to consider
- Base Team picks: Nicholas Pooran, Heinrich Klaasen, Dewald Brevis, Imad Wasim, Rashid Khan, Trent Boult
- Shayan Jahangir can be tried as a risky differential if MINY is chasing, especially when the focus will be on the international stars while selecting teams. He has been getting off to good starts in the second half of the tournament. It is not straightforward though, because Seattle, unlike most other teams, might start with a spinner (Imad Wasim) in the powerplay, which might be a bigger challenge for him.
- Trent Boult has been exceptional with the ball in this tournament by picking up wickets both in the powerplay as well as at the death. It primarily puts the top 3 of Seattle at risk but with an experienced Quinton de Kock, his overs will look to be played out. In addition to this, Boult is a much bigger threat against the right handers compared to the southpaws.
- One of our main strategies for this game will be to try and back the chasing team to win especially if it is MINY, even though the overall record suggests the opposite - our assumption will be based on the pitch offered for the playoff matches. Currently, MINY have a more experienced middle order compared to SEO who will heavily depend on either QDK or Heinrich Klaasen to do most of the heavy lifting.
- In the previous meeting between the two sides, it was Heinrich Klaasen who had to single-handedly take SEO over the line even when wickets were falling like a pack of cards at the other end. It will be very difficult to repeat such an innings once again and so we will make a decision on the remaining set of players part from the base team, after the toss.
- Andrew Tye has been bowling at least 2 overs at the death making him an important bowling option. He is a must have pick if Seattle bowls first, but there is a scenario where his value might not be very high - if SEO bowls second, have a low total to defend and if MINY are able to chase down the target before the 18th over. That is one of the possible scenarios you can consider while making your team.
