Pitch Report: There was a good amount of bounce on the wicket and the ball comes nicely onto the bat. The surface has been good for run scoring but a trend at this ground in this series so far has shown the team batting second fail to chase down the total in over 80% of the matches.

Fantasy Notes - Texas Super Kings (TSK) vs MI New York (MINY)

Points to consider

  • Base Team picks: Kieron Pollard, Dwayne Bravo, Mitchell Santner, Daniel Sams/Gerald Coetzee, Trent Boult, Kagiso Rabada
  • Gerald Coetzee looked to have injured his hand while batting against Washington Freedom and if the injury needs further treatment, he might be rested. Daniel Sams, who will join the squad is likely to replace him as an overseas player in the XI.
  • Faf du Plessis will have a couple of threats against MI New York especially if Rashid Khan starts in the XI. His issues against left-arm pace (which he has improved on recently) could still be exploited by one of the best powerplay bowlers in Trent Boult.
  • Matchup; Faf du Plessis vs Trent Boult: Outs - 3, Balls - 89, Avg - 32, SR - 108 || vs Rashid Khan: Outs - 3, Balls - 45, Avg - 10, SR - 66 || vs Kagiso Rabada: Outs - 3, Balls - 33, Avg - 11, SR - 103
  • David Miller - another key batter for TSK will see his fantasy potential fall if Rashid Khan starts; Miller vs Rashid in T20s: Outs - 4, Balls - 42, Avg - 12, SR - 119
  • Dwayne Bravo vs Rashid Khan: Ots - 4, Avg - 2, SR - 60, and Daniel Sams vs Rashid: Outs - 2, Avg - 12, SR - 125
  • Rashid Khan can be one of your best C/VC options in this match, especially on a used pitch and particularly if MINY are bowling in the second innings. So far in the tournament, the team batting second has struggled badly and we will look to follow that rend and back the team batting first.
  • If Rashid Khan returns, Dewald Brevis might have to make way, which might see a MINY top order with three domestic players and all of whom struggle against left arm spin. Santner can be used in the powerplay and there is a potential for him to pick up a couple of wickets. He has also been in good batting form recently and his allround value makes him one of our favoured C/VC choices.
