Pitch Report: There was moisture on the wicket in the games at this ground. The center pitch used in this matches so far had runs on offer but another pitch which was used in the Warm up match was tacky and tricky for the batters. This surface also offered assistance for spinners in the latter half of the match.

Sri Lanka played both their Qualifier matches at this ground. Scotland had also played their first match against Ireland here.

Fantasy Notes - Scotland (SCO) vs Sri Lanka (SL)

Points to consider

  • Base Team picks: Kusal Mendis, Pathum Nissanka, Dimuth Karunaratne, Wanindu Hasaranga, Brandon McMullen, Lahiru Kumara
  • Chris Greaves picked up a 5-fer in the last match and he complete a majority of his quota of overs. At the same time, Michael Leask's overs were limited. It is difficult to predict the usage of these bowlers but Leask has a good reason to bowl a couple of overs against left handers Karunaratne and Asalanka.
  • Among the Scotland pacers, Chris Sole has an excellent record in ODIs and has bowled very good spells in the 3 matches. On the other hand, Safyaan Sharif has a couple of good slower variration deliveries which can be handy especially in the death overs while bowling first.
  • Sri Lanka have been by far the best team in the World Cup Qualifiers. If SL bowls first, you can load up on their pacers and pick their top order batters, as they have been comfortable in chasing.
  • On the other hand, if Scotland bowls first, it would get trickier for us to select the batters. Ideally, it is a good idea to back their top 4 to score the bulk of the runs and in the second innings, Wanindu Hasaranga will be expected to dominate once again and pick most of the wickets because Scotland, just like Ireland also struggles against wrist spin.
