MrBeast's interest in venturing into the realm of League of Legends esports has been well-known for some time. However, in a surprise announcement during a guest appearance on the Worlds 2022 broadcast, he disclosed his intention to acquire a slot in the LCS.
“Oh, yeah, 100 percent,” he said. “The question is when. When we do it, I want to have a team that makes it to a stage like this.”
During the earlier part of this year, Yiliang 'Doublelift' Peng, the renowned player from 100 Thieves and a prominent figure in North American League of Legends, expressed his belief that MrBeast's entry into the LCS would have a positive impact on the league. This comes as the LCS is currently grappling with a decline in viewership.
When TSM announced their decision to sell their LCS slot, many speculated that MrBeast could potentially be a buyer. However, a report from The New York Times on May 20 revealed that TSM has narrowed down their discussions to approximately a dozen entities, primarily from the media and traditional sports sectors.
