Afghanistan was not able to counter New Zealand's lethal bowling

Afghanistan, in their reply, faced a stern test as their top-order faltered under the pressure of New Zealand's bowling attack. Despite this early setback, the middle order put up a commendable fight, attempting to keep Afghanistan's hopes alive.

However, the lower order succumbed to the relentless bowling attack led by Boult, Henry, and Ferguson.

Spinners Santner and Ravindra added to the pressure with their gradual build-up, contributing to Afghanistan's struggle.

Glenn Phillips was awarded the Player of the Match

Although Afghanistan managed to avoid being "roasted" like Chennai's scorching heat, the overwhelming strength of New Zealand's bowling attack left a significant dent in their confidence.

After their strong showing against England, the match was anticipated to be a closely contested battle. However, it became evident that Afghanistan did not perform at their best on the day, resulting in New Zealand's commanding 149-run victory.
