Comparing the two players, Harbhajan noted that Samson tends to play a riskier brand of cricket than Suryakumar Yadav. Yadav's knack for consistently finding gaps in the field, especially during the latter stages of the innings, makes him a valuable asset.

He argued that during the middle overs, when batsmen need to find gaps and build an innings, Yadav's ability is unmatched in Indian cricket. He emphasized that Suryakumar Yadav requires only 30 deliveries to make a significant impact on the game.

"Samson plays riskier cricket than Surya. Surya will need to bat the exact number of balls like he does in T20. When you bat from the 35th over, you need a game where you can find the gaps in the field, and nobody is better than Surya than doing that. If it were up to me, I would play Surya in every game. He needs just 30 balls to change the game," Harbhajan said.

India's decision to back Suryakumar Yadav comes despite his relatively modest numbers in ODI cricket. With 26 ODIs under his belt, Yadav has scored 511 runs at an average of 24.33.

Even Yadav himself acknowledged the challenges of adapting to the 50-over format, emphasizing the need to balance the calmness and composure required early in an innings with the urgency of T20 gameplay.

As the cricketing world eagerly awaits this marquee event, it will be interesting to see whether the selection of Yadav add depth and dynamism to the Indian middle order.
