Ishan Kishan and Sanju Samson have similar stats in ODI for India but the young keeper-batter has scored more runs for India so far. With a more or less similar strike rate in the ODIs, they both have been pretty impressive. The fact that Ishan is a bit younger and his ability to play big knocks gives him an edge over Samson.
India is keen on keeping a balance in the batting lineup with left-handers and right-handers. Looks like, Kishan being a left-hander and his remarkable double century (the fastest in ODI) against Bangladesh has convinced the selectors.
The selection of Kishan for the ODI series beckons the question that whether this is the end of Sanju Samson's career in ODI cricket. As India takes on Ireland and Australia in ODIs before the World Cup it will be interesting to see if Sanju Samson earns a call-up to the national squad.
