Sri Lanka – Fantasy Notes
Wanindu Hasaranga is an obvious and the most common captaincy choice for this game. He runs havoc in helpful conditions, and can hit the ball long as well. No second doubt about your captain!
Kusal Mendis is a good choice in this game as he has been in good form recently and can play the long innings which Sri Lanka will need. He provides wicket-keeper value as well, which is a good bonus.
If Sri Lanka bowls first, pick almost all of their bowling options – Kumara, Rajitha, Hasaranga and Theekshana for sure. We’re expecting Afghanistan to get all-out if they bat first!
Afghanistan – Fantasy Notes
Rashid Khan has the potential to be an absolute beast in these friendly Asian conditions. He can get 2+ wickets very easily here, and provide some batting value as well with Afghanistan’s batting likely to struggle against Sri Lanka.
Mohammad Nabi has been in poor form recently, barely managing double digit scores. But that was in the T20I format. In ODIs he has massive fantasy potential with him bowling 10 overs on a regular basis and batting at 5 or 6 too.
Fareed Malik will be a good differential choice here if Afghanistan bowls first as he has the knack of picking wickets in a bunch. Do try him in your grand league teams!
WKs: Kusal Mendis and Rahmanullah Gurbaz both are decent options. If you want to go safe, drop Gurbaz. Else, pick both.
Batters: Pathum Nissanka is the default choice in this section. We will pick one out of Ibrahim Zadran and Rahmat Shah, the safe option being the former one. Charith Asalanka is a good option in this category.
All-Rounders: Wanindu Hasaranga (C) should be the first name on your team. Dhananjaya de Silva makes a good case, while we will be picking Mohammad Nabi in our team.
Bowlers: Kumara and Rajitha if SL bowls first, and Fazal and Fareed if AFG bowls first. Theekshana and Rashid remain default choices here.
C/VC picks: Hasaranga, Rashid
