England – Fantasy Notes

  • Mark Wood has been breathing fire since he has made his comeback for England, picking 2+ wickets in almost every game. If England bowls first, he will again become a very good choice to make captain or vice captain.
  • Liam Livingstone showed why he is rated highly in terms of all round value in the last game against Ireland. He provides death over hitting and some very handy part time bowling. We will be looking to fit him in our team.
  • Jos Buttler has had a couple of bad games so far in this tournament. He will be up against the duo of Trent Boult and Tim Southee this time, which is as dangerous as it gets. It is a bold call, but you can expect another early dismissal for the English captain.

New Zealand – Fantasy Notes

  • Trent Boult has been phenomenal in T20 World Cups. There has been only a single game in the history of tournament where he has played and gone wicketless. New Zealand bowling first will mean he becomes a very safe choice for captaincy.
  • Kane Williamson has been poor with the bat in this format from quite some time now, barring an odd good game here and there. We do not expect him to perform in this match as well, as the trio of Woakes-Wood-Curran will not be easy to face.
  • Finn Allen had an awesome first game, and then a first over dismissal against Sri Lanka, departing to Maheesh Theekshana. England could look to start with spin from one end for this particular reason, but they do not possess that much quality that Sri Lanka had. Expect Allen to deliver!
