The BCCI and India team selectors have announced the India squad for the upcoming series against New Zealand and Bangladesh series. Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Dinesh Karthik and KL Rahul are among the several players in the current T20 World Cup squad to be rested for the New Zealand tour. Hardik Pandya will lead a 16-member squad for the T20I series of the New Zealand tour. Rishabh Pant has been named Vice captain for the New Zealand T20Is, and will also be the vice-captain of the ODI sqauad for New Zealand which will be led by Shikhar Dhawan.
Prithwi Shaw is still not included in any of the series despite his stellar performances in domestic cricket in all the formats. “There is nothing wrong with Prithvi. We have to look at players who are already in system and doing well. We are in constant touch with him. He will get his chance very soon”: Chetan Sharma on Prithvi Shaw’s non-selection.
Chetan Sharma also gave injury update on Jasprit Bumrah and says he is on road to recovery and they are not in any hurry to get him selected,” We hurried Jasprit Bumrah before the T20 World Cup and you saw what happened. So we want to be patient now. He will be a part of the Australia series.”

Indian Cricket team is also set to play two match test series against Bangladesh followed by a three match ODI series. Indian tour of Bangladesh will kickstart from 4th December with three ODI matches being played in Sher Bangla National Stadium, Dhaka. The test leg will begin in Chattogram from 14th December with the second test to be played in Dhaka from 22nd December.

Chetan, on a positive note, mentions Indian test team middle order is packed and they have to take few harsh decisions by not picking some key players and assures they are in the scheme of things. On Hanuma Vihari being left out of Tests vs Bangladesh, he says: “Our middle order is packed and the likes of Kohli, Gill, Iyer are there. Some players miss out but it doesn’t mean that they are not in the scheme of things. He was part of the side and he will be part of the squad again, soon. Right now, we are figuring out who would be best suited for the XI vs Bangladesh.”
Chetan also appreciates Sarfaraz Khan for the brilliant performances he is delivering for his domestic and India-A side,” We are giving him opportunities in India A. He is a brilliant player and we are in touch with him but there should be vacant spots in the team. He is a serious contender and he will definitely get a chance very soon.”
