South Africa – Fantasy Notes

  • It will be interesting to see if Tabraiz Shamsi is brought into the side for this match against a Bangladesh side with plenty of left-handers. If he plays, he will likely replace Keshav Maharaj in the XI.
  • Both Quinton de Kock and Rilee Rossouw struggle against off-spin. If Mosaddek Hossain bowls in the powerplay, he will become a major threat to both the left-handers. Keep them in your teams but rotate c/vc in different combinations.
  • South African pacers should be able to exploit the weakness of the Bangladesh batters, who struggle against both high pace and bounce. Keep at least 3 pacers in your team if South Africa bowls first.
  • Aiden Markram is a good differential in this match, against a Bangladesh team with plenty of left-handers and his off-spin will be useful. He is a good option especially if South Africa bats first.

Bangladesh – Fantasy Notes

  • Against a South African team with 3 left-handers in the top 5, Mosaddek Hossain becomes a good differential option as the only off-spinner in the team. He is also a handy lower-order batter.
  • The team could also bring in Mehidy Hasan if they want to add a second-off-spin option.
  • Despite being a left-hand-dominated team, most Bangladesh batters including Shakib struggle to score quickly or lose their wicket to left-arm spin. For this reason, Keshav Maharaj is likely to remain in the South African XI.
  • Bangladesh batters struggle to score quickly against both off-spin and left-arm spin, make sure to try different combinations with Aiden Markram and Keshav Maharaj as well.
