India – Fantasy Notes

  • Cricinfo reported that Virat Kohli and KL Rahul have been given a break prior to their travel to Australia for the World Cup and therefore, they will not be available for selection in this match.
  • Shreyas Iyer is likely to replace Kohli in the XI while Shahbaz Ahmed could be handed a chance to make his debut for the national team.
  • Rishabh Pant will be given the opportunity to open the batting in the absence of KL Rahul. Pick him as a differential in your teams.
  • Spinners will have a lesser say due to the small boundary sizes at this venue but one of Axar Patel or Shahbaz Ahmed will bat at Number 5 and could provide useful points with the bat as well.
  • Pick Harshal Patel as a differential in your team particularly if he bowls in the first innings as his slower deliveries provide an opportunity to pick up wickets in the death overs.

South Africa– Fantasy Notes

  • While Aiden Markram has been in great T20 form in the past year, he has struggled against left-arm spin and India is likely to field two of them in this match. Restrain from giving him the armband in small leagues but keep him in your teams as his off-spin will be used against the Indian left-handers.
  • Pick more batters in your team and particularly Reeza Hendricks if he plays. He has been in good form and the venue dimensions should favour his batting.
  • The same is the case for Rilee Rossouw despite his failures in the first two matches. A player of his quality should be backed as a differential if he remains in the lineup.
  • Pick Dwaine Pretorius in your teams if he plays, particularly if South Africa bowl first. He is also a handy lower-order batter and was in good form at the CPL.
  • While it did not go to plan in the last match, prioritising death over bowlers with variations like Lungi Ngidi could prove to be a good strategy in this match.
