India crushed South Africa in second T20I game at the Barsapara Stadium and won it by 16 runs to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three match series. South Africa won the toss and asked India to bat first on a fine batting surface. India, in response posted a mammoth total of 237 against a dismal bowling performance from the South African bowlers. Each of India’s top five batsmen made a significant contribution in helping India to take it to their fourth highest T20I total of all time.

In a night full of runs and bowling disgrace, where 458 runs were scored from both the sides and both teams had poor outing with the ball, multiple records were shattered. Suryakumar Yadav continued from where we left in the last match and showed yet again why he’s the most exciting T20I batter presently. He became the fastest cricketer to reach 1000 runs landmark in terms of number of balls faced.

Yadav completed his half-century on 18 balls, the joint-second-fastest for India in the T20I. Yuvraj Singh still holds the record for his 12-ball fifty against England in ICC T20 World Cup in 2007. Yadav equalled KL Rahul’s feat to get to a brilliant fifty.

Kohli also looked in good touch and scored 49*. He played a second fiddle to Suryakumar and still maintained a pretty handsome strike rate of 175. The partnership between Kohli and Yadav (102 in 42 balls) was also India’s quickest stand of 100 runs or more in this format. The blistering partnership reached to 100 with run rate of 15+.

India put a mammoth 237/3 batting first, their fourth-highest T20I total, with a massive 141 runs coming in the last 10 overs. This was also the highest T20I total made against South Africa in T20Is.
