BIG is the second CS:GO team to receive a direct invitation to the $200,000 LAN tournament Elisa Masters Espoo, which takes place from November 16 to 20 in Espoo, Finland.
The other team that received a direct invitation was ENCE, and HEET qualified for the competition by winning the Elisa Invitational Spring in July 2022. Twelve CS:GO teams will compete at Elisa Masters Spoo, with the top three teams from each round of play moving on to the single-elimination playoffs.
With victories in numerous online competitions between 2020 and 2022, including DreamHack Masters Spring Europe in 2020, Funspark ULTI in 2020, and Roobet Cup in June 2022, BIG has established itself as one of the top CS:GO teams in the world in recent years. They are currently led by head coach Fatih “gob b” Dayik and comprise Johannes “tabseN” Wodarz, Florian “syrsoN” Rische, Josef “faveN” Baumann, Karim “Krimbo” Moussa, Nils “k1to” Gruhne, and Karim “Krimbo” Moussa.
The remaining three spots will be filled by teams that qualified through Elisa events like the ongoing Elisa Invitational Fall and Elisa Invitational Spring like HEET did. Elisa will directly invite another six teams to Elisa Masters Espoo.
Although BIG and ENCE, two tier-one teams, are already on the Elisa Masters Espoo team list, it is still unknown whether the tournament’s organisers will persuade a top-five team to participate in the $200,000 competition.
This is because Elisa Masters Espoo, the second Valve-sponsored tournament of the year, will be held immediately after IEM Rio Major, and the top teams in the world, like FaZe Clan and NAVI, will probably want to rest up before going to another competition.
