As per reported by PTI, there are few changes in India’s squad for the upcoming three matches T20I series against South Africa. The star allrounder Hardik Pandya has been given rest for the series and is set to be replaced by Shahbaz Ahmed. Hardik has already reached to National Cricket Academy with Bhuvneshwar Kumar in order to undergo conditioning-related work in Bengaluru.
Hooda has got his back injured and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has said he was not available for selection for the third and the final T20I against Australia on Sunday. The BCCI statement on Sunday was as: “Deepak Hooda wasn’t available for selection for this game owing to a back injury.”
As reported by Cricbuzz, Hooda’s injury could be needing attention of the medical staff at the National Cricket Academy. He has also not travelled to Thiruvananthapuram where India is scheduled to play first T20I match against South Africa and Shreyas Iyer, who was announced as a standby for the series earlier, come in as Hooda’s replacement.
Also reported, Mohammed Shami’s return to the Indian T20 International side is set to be further delayed. The right arm pacer has not fully recovered from the Covid viral that also kept him out of the just-concluded series three matches T20 series against Australia.
Shami has not travelled to Thiruvananthapuram, where the Indian team already reached on Monday evening. Umesh Yadav, who was announced as a replacement for Shami, has travelled with the team, he will continue be part of the three-match South Africa series too.
