Guyana Amazon Warriors – Fantasy Notes

  • Playoff chances – Win both their remaining matches and they are guaranteed a spot in the playoffs.
  • Shimron Hetmyer has scored the most runs at this venue since 2018 and he also has a good record against TKR. Despite batting at No.5, he should be one of the top contenders for the armband in this match.
  • Rahmanullah Gurbaz is a good attacking T20 batter but struggles against left-arm spin and TKR is likely to open the bowling with either Samit Patel or Akeal Hosein. Ideally he would be a player you don’t want to miss so if there was a choice between two players, pick him if he bats first when it is relatively easier to play spin.
  • Shai Hope has batted well at this venue but he also struggles against left-arm spin bowling like Gurbaz. With 4 quality options in the WK section, it is tricky to nail a pick other than Seifert – so rotate between the other 3 options in different teams.
  • Guyana has 8 bowling options that they could use in this match with only Tahir guaranteed to bowl his full quota. There is a possibility of overs being spread around but if they are bowling second, expect spinners to bowl most of their overs.
  • Odean Smith has been bowling at the death and could also benefit from the overs cut of Shakib/Motie due to their matchup against Trinbago’s left handers.
  • Romario Shepherd is the 3rd highest wicket-taker at this venue and an excellent record against TKR, particularly when bowling in the first innings. Pick him as a differential in your teams if he bowls first.

Trinbago Knight Riders – Fantasy Notes

  • Playoff chances – Must win their last match of the league stage tonight to keep their chances for the playoffs alive.
  • Nicholas Pooran is the 2nd highest run scorer at the Providence stadium since 2018 and will face his former team tonight. He has been in very poor form this season scoring more than 15 runs just once. Despite that, a player of his quality should be backed to come good as a differential in this crucial must-win match.
  • Kieron Pollard promoted himself ahead of Pooran in the last match and could do it again tonight to maintain the LHB-RHB batting order. He could even bowl in this match particularly when TKR is defending a total as the overs of Samit Patel could get cut against Guyana who have 3 LHB in their top 5.
  • After his 3-wicket haul in the last match, Daryn Dupavillon has seen his popularity increase but it is still under 50%. He has not gone wicketless in any of his last 10 matches.
