Pakistan left arm ace bowler Shaheen Afridi takes a cheeky dig at critics of Pakistan captain Babar Azam after the star batsman smashed an outstanding century against England and helped Pakistan to pull off a remarkable chase of 200 runs without losing any wicket in second T20I on Thursday.
Due to below par performance in Asia Cup 2022, there were lot of criticism on Babar’s form and his slow strike rate in powerplay. From some Pakistan former cricketers to fans, all were very vocal about his form and lack of intent in T20 format. Few even stated to sack the opening duo of Babar and Rizwan as they don’t bat quick enough in powerplay in T20I.
Shaheen takes a jibe at the critics of Babar and Rizwan by posting a saucy tweet where he said, “I think it is time to get rid of Kaptaan @babarazam258 and @iMRizwanPak. Itne selfish players. Agar sahi se khelte to match 15 overs me finish hojana chahye tha. Ye akhri over tak le gaye. Let’s make this a movement. Nahi? Absolutely proud of this amazing Pakistani team.” (I think it is time to get rid of captain Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan. Such selfish players. If they had played a bit more aggressively, this match could have got finished in the 15th over itself but they took it to the last over. Let’s make this a movement, no? Absolutely proud of tis amazing Pakistani team).
Then on a serious note Shaheen praised the opening duo of Rizwan and Babar and calls them the two best batters in the world.
In the match, opening duo of Babar and Rizwan took part in a record-breaking double-century opening stand and helped Pakistan chase down a target of 200 runs in T20I without losing a single wicket which is a new record. Babar Azam also becomes the first Pakistan player to score 2 hundreds in T20I history.
