As they say, ‘It’s all in the detailing’. Expressing your feelings and affection in sport is possible in numerous ways. Manchester United’s forwards Jadon Sancho and Cristiano Ronaldo showed a perfect example of the same in yesterday’s Europa League game against Moldovan club Sheriff Tiraspol.
English winger Sancho opened the scoring for the red devils at the 17th minute mark with a left footed effort. He then went on to show his shin pads while celebrating his goal. He was later asked about the significance of the shin pads celebration and he revealed that they were gifted to him by a young fan a few days ago.
“He asked me to wear them and I said ‘yeah, no problem,'” Sancho told BT Sport. “It was a little gesture from me to show I was wearing the shin pads he gave me.”
United’s talismanic Portuguese striker Cristiano Ronaldo was also spotted with a shin pad having his family’s pictures printed on it. He opened his account for this season with a calmly taken spot kick just before the half-time whistle.
Manchester United breezed past Sheriff Tiraspol thanks to first half goals from Sancho and Ronaldo. They sit on the second position in their group table after having suffered a defeat to Spanish side Real Sociedad in the first game week.
