Scout reacts

Tanmay “Scout” Singh opens up about their performance in the PUBG Mobile global tournament, PMWI 2022. Scout is undoubtedly one of the most famous names on the Indian Esports front, and his observation is of much value to aspiring esports players from the country. Scout believes they have a long way ahead of them, and they have so much to learn in order to deliver the kind of performance that would help them secure top ranks in global tournaments.

Two teams from India, Team Soul, and 7SEA, participated in PMWI 2022 global tournament. However, their performance lagged behind those of the other elite squads. Team Soul finished in the 11th position and 7SEA finished in the 9th position in the Afterparty. Due to Scout’s prior experience, 7SEA signed Scout for the Afterparty where he emerged as the Fan Favorite Player.

Scout elaborated upon their performance in his latest live stream, where he talked about their shortcomings and experiences from the tournament. The overall experience, according to him, was good. The PUBG and BGMI ban affected their preparation for the tournament.

Scout believes their performance has been terrible, and they must improve their gameplay. He also observes, “If BGMI comes back to India, hopefully, the game to have a global lobby feature (matchmaking with PUBG Mobile). Because unless you practice in the Global Lobby, you can’t beat them.”

BGMI was launched in 2021 in India after the ban of PUBG, but the government banned the game this year citing security concerns over user data.

What BGMI lacked was a Global lobby feature that would allow teams to play against other international squads from the PUBG mobile. This impaired the performance of the Indian teams, as they could not hone their skills against elite squads from all over the world. The unavailability of skilled esports players and lack of management also contributed to their disappointing performance in the tournament.

In PMGC 2021, GodLike Esports was ranked 13th. They were the first BGMI team to participate in a global PUBG tournament. In most matched in PMWI 2022, Team Soul as well and 7SEA couldn’t last till the final zone.

Thai team Vampire Esports claimed victory in both phases of the $3 million global event. The Indian teams claimed one chicken dinner each in 18 matches.
