Fantasy tips for the 3rd ODI between Zimbabwe and India at Harare
The importance of KL Rahul in this game
KL Rahul is only in 45% of the fantasy teams at the time of writing this article, which is clearly a result of him not coming out to bat in the first match and being dismissed cheaply in the second.
It’s also a classic case of recency bias. If you know KL Rahul, you know one thing: he scores runs, a lot of them, and against much better opponents. So, pick him. Not only because he can score runs, but also because he is in less than half of the teams.
It’s pointless debating whether he is ready or needs more time to regain his touch; these discussions usually take place when a player returns from a long layoff, but there’s no way to know how he’s feeling from the outside. For example, you could have skipped Deepak Chahar in the first game because he was returning after a long absence, but he ended up taking three wickets. And it’s especially futile against weaker opponents because you don’t need to be at your best to score runs or take wickets against Zimbabwe.
All we need to know is whether he will open. As we predicted in our second game fantasy preview, India will go to great lengths to give him game time in the middle ahead of the Asia Cup. So it’ll only be a surprise if he doesn’t open today.
India should make a few changes to their starting lineup for this game, with Avesh Khan and Deepak Chahar likely to play. Bring them both into your XI.
Zimbabwe – Top 4 fantasy picks
We’ve talked about Zimbabwe enough, and many of our predictions have come true, with Sean Williams and Ryan Burl showing up in the last game. The duo, along with Sikandar Raza, will always be the first three picks in this side.
Try Brad Evans or Luke Jongwe over Regis Chakbava if Zimabwe bowl first. Wessly Madhevere is one of the world’s most promising young players, but the problem with picking him is that he’s out of form. You could try the 21-year-old as the fourth Zimbabwean player in at least 30% of your combinations, as he can improve the chances of that combination succeeding on his own.
Top Differentials: Kuldeep Yadav (28%), KL Rahul (45%), Avesh Khan, Wessly Madhevere (8%)
