Northern Superchargers vs London Spirit

Venue – Leeds

Click here for detailed venue notes and all the relevant stats.

Northern Superchargers: Adam Lyth, Faf du Plessis*(c), Michael Pepper, John Simpson(wk), Adam Hose, David Wiese*, Roelof van der Merwe, Dwayne Bravo*, Ben Raine, Adil Rashid, Craig Miles

Potential Changes: Unless David Willey is fit or Harry Brook is not required to join the England Test squad, none.

Given that the Northern Superchargers have lost consecutive games, it will be interesting to see how long they keep Wahab Riaz on the bench, especially considering that their bowling has been a major issue this season. However, given the overseas constraints, it is difficult to fit him into the current setup, as previously discussed here. Either Faf du Plessis relinquishes captaincy and opts out of selection or one of David Wiese or Dwayne Bravo must be benched.

London Spirit: Daniel Bell-Drummond, Adam Rossington(wk), Glenn Maxwell*, Dan Lawrence, Eoin Morgan(c), Kieron Pollard*, Jordan Thompson, Liam Dawson, Nathan Ellis*, Mason Crane, Brad Wheal

Potential Changes: Dan Lawrence in, Zak Crawley out

Trent Rockets confirmed yesterday that Joe Root had left their squad to join the England Test team, so Zak Crawley, another member of the national team picked to play South Africa, should naturally be unavailable for this game. It makes Eoin Morgan’s job easier, as he would have otherwise had to drop Daniel Bell-Drummond, their player of the match the previous game, to make room for returning star Daniel Lawrence.

Fantasy Notes

  • If London Spirit bat first, there will be plenty of runs. Leeds has one of the best batting surfaces in England.
  • To compete against the Spirit team, Northern Superchargers will need Harry Brook and David Willey in their starting XI.
  • If Zak Crawley is unavailable, Daniel Bell-Drummond will be promoted to open today, and he will be confident after helping his team win the previous game.
  • If Chris Wood is unable to play, the London Spirit will be without a left-arm pacer. That will benefit Faf du Plessis, who has struggled all year against that bowling type.
  • Daniel Lawrence (2%) and Brad Wheal (10%) could be top differentials today because they are in form and aren’t on many fantasy teams.
  • Faf du Plessis vs L Pace in 2022 (Avg/SR): 11 outs at 16/127
  • In form – Adam Lyth, Nathan Ellis, Brad Wheal
  • Out of form – None

Top NSC picks: David Wiese, Dwayne Bravo, Adam Lyth, Adil Rashid

Top LS picks: Glenn Maxwell, Jordan Thompson, Nathan Ellis, Eoin Morgan

Oval Invincibles vs Southern Brave

Venue – The Kennington Oval

Click here for detailed venue notes and all the relevant stats.

Oval Invincibles: Will Jacks, Jason Roy, Rilee Rossouw*, Sam Billings(c), Sam Curran, Jordan Cox, Sunil Narine*, Tom Curran, Danny Briggs, Mohammad Hasnain*, Reece Topley

Potential Changes: Will Jacks, Sam Billings, Mohammad Hasnain in; Jack Haynes, Matt Milnes, Hilton Cartwright out

Will Jacks and Sam Billings have returned from England Lions duty and are available for this game. Mohammad Hasnain should also return, as Jacks and Billings will instil enough confidence in the Invincibles’ batting unit to forego Cartwright’s extra overseas cushion.

Southern Brave: Quinton de Kock(wk), James Vince, Alex Davies, Marcus Stoinis*, Tim David*, Ross Whiteley, James Fuller, George Garton, Chris Jordan, Jake Lintott, Michael Hogan

Potential Changes: George Garton in, Rehan Ahmed out

After being benched for a forgettable game against Birmingham Phoenix, the Southern Brave may want to give Garton another chance to regain his form at the expense of Rehan Ahmed.

Fantasy Notes

  • Jordan Cox has two 35-plus scores in three games, but with the return of Sam Billings, he is likely to drop back down the order.
  • After a sluggish start to the tournament, this could be Rilee Rossouw’s day with the bat.
  • In his last 10 games, Tim David has only scored 20+ runs once.
  • In form – James Vince, James Fuller, Will Jacks, Sam Curran, Sunil Narine, Rilee Rossouw
  • Out of form – George Garton, Tim David, Jason Roy

Top OI picks: Will Jacks, Rilee Rossouw, Sam Curran, Sunil Narine, Tom Curran

Top Differentials: James Fuller (35%), Will Jacks (27%)
