Hardik Pandya talks about the new Indian team management

Hardik Pandya, like Dinesh Karthik, has attributed India’s attacking batting approach in T20Is to the new captain-coach combination of Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid. The Indian all-rounder believes that under the current team management, the players feel secure because they don’t have to constantly “look over their shoulders” and are told whether or not they are dropped.

“A lot of credit goes to Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid – the way they have got the team together, making sure that a lot of positive mindset comes in,” he said on BCCI.tv. At the same point of time, players are feeling secure. They aren’t looking over their shoulders, making sure they are getting ample chances, and you know, they have been getting told as well if they aren’t playing. That is something which is commendable.

“About the approach, again, the credit goes to Ro and the coach. Yesterday, we were all having a chat how to go about this wicket, ‘the wicket is slow, do you still want to still continue with the style of play’. I mean, the credit goes to him. He said you know what, forget about the results, we are trying something new and we are going to make mistakes. We are going to learn from it. What we have been doing for 5-6 years, we are going to go away from that and make sure we try everything. When it comes to the World Cup, we will make sure we know what options are available that way.”

Since his return to the team, the 28-year-old has been outstanding, contributing significantly to India’s series victories in England and the West Indies, as well as the home draw against South Africa.
