After it was confirmed that Australia would be playing a covid positive player, Tahila McGrath, in the Commonwealth Games Cricket Gold Medal match against India, all hell broke loose on Cricket Twitter.
McGrath, Australia’s premier pace bowling all-rounder, is one of only two players in the tournament to score 100+ runs and take 5+ wickets, the other being the legendary Kiwi Sophie Devine.
- Tahila McGrath with the bat in CWG2022: 127 runs at 63/153
- Tahila McGrath with the ball in CWG2022: 8 wickets at 9.1/6.1
The 26-year-old has grown so much in the last few years that she is now one of the world’s most valuable players, even capable of keeping a big name like Ellyse Perry out of the Australian T20I XI.
It should be noted that if McGrath was not permitted to participate in the game, Australia could have used Perry, one of the team’s squad players.
