Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) the largest esports game in India has been removed from the App Store and Play Store. The concerned authorities are yet to give a clarification on whether the game is banned permanently or not. The entire BGMI community was shocked and disappointed with the game’s removal.
However, many esports industry professionals are now moving on from it and focusing on the future. Esports has seen a gigantic rise in India in the last few years. Although BGMI has the largest player base in the country, there are many other popular games. Battle royale games like Free Fire and Apex Legends Mobile are some good alternatives. Many esports pundits in the country believe that without further ado players and professionals need to transition to another game. The game that many believe should act as a viable alternative to BGMI is New State Mobile.
What is New State Mobile?
New State Mobile is a battle royale game developed and published by KRAFTON, the studio behind PUBG Battlegrounds and PUBG Mobile. New State Mobile builds on the same last man surviving gameplay of BGMI. It has players landing on an island where they need to loot and collect weapons and survival kits while fighting opponents until the last squad/man standing wins.
The game was released in November 2021 and has been downloaded by millions of players.
Many popular esports organizations in our country are planning to move their operations to New State Mobile if BGMI is banned permanently. GodLike Esports’ current manager, Abhijeet “Ghatak” Andhare in one of his tweets hinted at a probable switch to New State Mobile.
Indian esport stalwart Mortal also tweeted about playing the game. Another prominent esports personality Animesh “Thug” Agarwal also posted in his Instagram story that India’s booming esports scene didn’t suffer after the PUBG Mobile ban. So, they need to move on from this and focus on the future because esports like any other sport is mainly about the fans, teams, and players.
New State Mobile can serve as a good alternative if BGMI is banned permanently. The game is BGMI’s distant cousin in terms of gameplay. The only difference is its aesthetics since the game is set in the future. Players will find it easy transitioning to this game and organizers in our country can also take notice to organize tournaments.
