Esports Awards 2022 nominations for The Esports Mobile Game of the Year

The Esports Awards 2022 nominations for The Esports Mobile Game of the Year has been revealed. The list includes some top rated mobile MOBA (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena) titles such as Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB), League of Legends: Wild Rift, Arena of Valor (AoV), and Pokemon UNITE. The nominations list includes a total of eight nominees.

MLBB (Mobile Legends Bang Bang)and AoV (Arena of Valor) , two of the most popular mobile MOBA games, have been fighting in this category for a long time. The international award has been won by Garena’s blockbuster battle royale title Free Fire for the last two years.

MOBA and shooters the dominant genres in professional gaming

Since the inception of esports two genres have been the most popular in esports. Dota 2 (MOBA) and CS GO (shooter) tournaments were one of the oldest to be played and still have the highest prize pools among many other games. So, it comes as no surprise as the same trend is being followed in mobile esports.

As time passed by and mobile devices got more powerful gaming on handheld devices increased massively. The game developers took notice and developed titles accordingly.

The list includes three battle royale games, four MOBA games and one hero shooter. The mobile MOBA games are topping the esports viewership charts thanks to MLBB. This year’s MLBB tournaments, MPL ID Season 9, MLBB Southeast Asia Cup 2022, and the 31st Southeast Asian Games MLBB were the top 3 most watched esports tournaments in 2022.

The viewership numbers were so large that it even surpassed those of some of the biggest PC esports tournaments. Among the most played shooter games Call of Duty Mobile, PUBG Mobile and Free Fire all have huge playerbases and boast of hosting some of the largest esports events. It will be interesting to see which among all these nominees get the most votes and takes home the coveted award.
