Day 2, Call 2: West Indies vs Bangladesh, 1st Test at North Sound – West Indies to win the match

Difficulty Level: Medium

Both teams are without big names – Mushfiqur Rahim and Taskin Ahmed for Bangladesh and Jason Holder and Shannon Gabriel for West Indies. But West Indies are playing at home, and Bangladesh are not great travellers, especially in Test cricket.

  • Bangladesh in away Tests: P – 63, W – 6, L – 53, D – 4, W/L ratio – 0.11
  • West Indies in home Tests since 2018: P – 19, W – 7, L – 7, D – 5, W/L ratio – 1

Bangladesh have won only 6 Tests away from home in their entire cricketing history, with two of those coming against Zimbabwe. They struggle at winning away from home, more so when not at full strength.

The Tigers lost to WI in both the matches at home in 2020, and the last time they toured WI in 2018, the 2 Tests lasted a grand total of 6 days, with the Windies decimating a much stronger Bangladesh side.

While West Indies might be missing Holder, in particular, they will be buoyed by the return of Kemar Roach. And in Raymon Reifer, they have a like-for-like replacement for Holder as well.

With no rain forecast for the next 5 days, it almost rules out the possibility of a draw, which furthers our case for backing WI to win this fixture.
